Child Safeguarding & Online Safety

Quran Academy Safeguarding Policy

At Ayah E-learning Institute, the safety, dignity, privacy and wellbeing of our students are important to us. As an online Quran academy teaching students around the world, we understand that parents and guardians need to know how their children are protected during online learning.

This policy explains the practical measures Ayah E-learning Institute currently follows for children in our online Quran classes. Parents may observe any lesson. Lessons are recorded only with parental permission. Tutors are not permitted to privately message students. Safeguarding concerns go directly to our Founder and Director, Mufti Abdul Baseer.

Our Commitment

Commitment to Child Safety

We aim to provide a respectful, professional and safe learning environment for children. Our classes may include one-to-one online Quran lessons covering Quran reading, Noorani Qaida, Tajweed, Hifz-ul-Quran, Islamic Duas, Tafseer, translation and basic Islamic studies.

Our tutors are expected to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students and to conduct themselves with respect, patience and Islamic values.

We also encourage parents and guardians to remain involved in their child's online Quran education, and to communicate with the academy whenever they have a question or a concern.

Tutor Selection

Tutor Selection and Vetting

Ayah E-learning Institute selects tutors according to their Islamic education, relevant teaching qualifications, knowledge, experience and suitability for teaching students online.

At present, we do not claim that every tutor has undergone a formal criminal-record or police background check. We believe it is important to be transparent with parents rather than make safeguarding claims that we cannot substantiate.

Parents who would like further information about a particular tutor's qualifications or teaching background may contact the academy administration. Each tutor's qualification, specialism, experience and teaching languages is published on our tutors page.

Parental Involvement

Parents Can Observe Classes

We encourage parental involvement in children's online Quran education.

Parents or guardians may sit with their child and observe the lesson. This allows parents to stay familiar with their child's learning environment, and gives them an opportunity to raise any questions directly with the academy.

If you have concerns about a lesson, a tutor, communication, or anything affecting your child's wellbeing, please contact the academy's Founder and Director.

Platforms

Online Classes and Video Platforms

Our online Quran classes may be conducted through Zoom, Google Meet or WhatsApp Video. The platform used may depend on the student's circumstances and the arrangement made with the academy.

Parents should ensure that their child joins lessons from an appropriate and reasonably private environment, and that the device used for the lesson is kept secure.

Recording

Are Online Quran Classes Recorded?

Our online classes may be recorded with parental permission.

Where a lesson is recorded, parents or guardians should understand that recordings may contain the student's image, voice, Quran recitation and other information shared during the lesson.

We do not present lesson recording as a requirement unless the relevant parent or guardian has given permission. If you have questions about recording, or would prefer to discuss whether recording is appropriate for your child's lessons, please contact the academy.

Communication

Communication Between Tutors, Students and Parents

Maintaining appropriate communication boundaries is an important part of online child safety.

Tutors are not permitted to privately message students through WhatsApp or other direct messaging services for personal communication.

Where communication is required for educational or administrative purposes, it should remain appropriate to the student's learning and, where applicable, involve the parent or guardian.

Parents should contact the academy if they believe a tutor has communicated with their child in an inappropriate, unnecessary or uncomfortable manner.

Please provide as much relevant information as possible, including the student's name, the tutor's name, the date of the incident, and a description of the concern.

All safeguarding concerns should be taken seriously and will be reviewed by the academy administration.

For Students

If a Child Feels Uncomfortable

We encourage every student to speak to a parent, guardian or trusted adult if something happens during an online Quran lesson that makes them feel uncomfortable, worried, frightened or unsafe.

Students do not need to remain silent about inappropriate behaviour.

Parents should contact the academy immediately if they become aware of a safeguarding concern.

Privacy

Privacy and Student Information

We respect the privacy of our students and their families.

Parents should avoid sharing unnecessary personal information about their children with tutors. Students should likewise be encouraged not to disclose sensitive personal information during online lessons unless it is genuinely necessary for their education or safety.

Any questions regarding the handling of student information can be directed to the academy administration, and our full privacy policy sets out what we collect and why.

Our Approach

Our Approach to Online Child Protection

Online education requires cooperation between the academy, tutors, parents and students. Our approach is based on:

Transparency → Professional boundaries → Parental involvement → Appropriate communication → Reporting concerns

We will continue reviewing our safeguarding practices as Ayah E-learning Institute develops its online Quran and Islamic education services.
